Massive shedding in Antarctica

An iceberg of 1,600 square km and 315 gigatons of ice broke off today from the Amery shelf in East Antarctica.

Experts on the subject stated that such an event is not linked to the impact of climate change, but is due to ocean currents.

In this regard, Horacio de Belaustegui, President of the Biosphere Foundation, made an opinion note in the newspaper El Día in the city of La Plata, highlighting the need to assess what impact the detachment will have on the salinization of the seas.
